I think many times we are so caught up with our own pressures of life that we can forget what truly matters. I was having an especially hard week at work and there were also the normal daily pressures of family life when I got a text from my wife. Something about calling a guy at blood services and a child who was having surgery. I'll admit my first thought was I don't have time for that and donating blood is way outside my comfort zone. My thoughts turned back to my own son, who during chemotherapy needed many, many blood infusions. Long story short, I called and yes, there was a child undergoing surgery in a few days and I was a positive match for blood. I made the appointment and went through with it. My point isn't to draw attention to my own good deed, it's to point out that acts of service can really make you feel good. The pressures and load I was feeling all of a sudden felt lighter, and I genuinely felt good inside. Do you find yourself caught up in your own troubles and pressures of life? Are you feeling moody, temperamental or even depressed? Think of one kind act of service you can do, for someone you know or someone you don't. I love this video, just for the message it offers: Do something good for someone else today. It won't just help that person, it will help you. All of a sudden your burdens and worries will seem a little less, your own load will feel a little lighter, and you will feel amazing.
