5 Tips to Help You Stick to Your Fitness Goals

It's common for people to make fitness goals only to fall through on them a few weeks later.  Here are five simple suggestions to help you ensure that you can stay on track.
  1. Make a plan – researchers have determined that those who actually write down when and where they will workout are 91% more likely to follow through on their plans to exercise.  (Source:  Jamesclear.com)
  2. Listen to music - one study published in the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport found a strong connection between music tempo and exercise intensity in a workout. Subjects jamming to music with a fast tempo experienced higher exercise intensity than those listening to music with a slower tempo.  (Source: Bodybuilding.com)
  3. Choose activities you enjoy - when you're having fun and enjoying whatever workout you're doing, you're more likely to want to do that workout again.  (Source:  Sparkpeople.com)
  4. Start slow - if you're serious about turning a new leaf and staying fit, then there's no rush. Start with a modest workout and slowly add on over time. This means keeping individual sessions light and also not forcing the issue and exercising too many days in a row. Give your body time to recover by spending off days stretching.  (Source:  Brownmed.com)
  5. Track your progress – take body part measurements, photos, note how much weight you are lifting or how long it takes for you to run or walk a mile, etc.  Then you can see the progress you’re making, celebrate your success and keep yourself motivated.  
Do these simple suggestions, and you'll find the strength and motivation to see the results that you want.
