Wireless Headphones:  A Workout Must-have

I love to listen to music on my iPhone while I work out in the gym.  I don't know if you're like I was, but using normal headphones was a pain.  I kept my phone in my shorts pocket and had a pair of headphone connected by wire.  Not a big deal, except sometimes the cord got caught up in the movement I was doing for my exercise and either my ears got yanked or my phone fell out of my pocket.  My solution was to run the wire underneath my shirt, but that felt a bit awkward.

About a year ago I heard about bluetooth earphones that wirelessly connected to your phone. That sounded great, but I was on a budget.  So I looked on Amazon and found a cheap pair of bluetooth headphones imported from China.  They worked ok, but the music didn't sound so great and I noticed some static in the connection, even just between my ears and my pocket. The freedom of movement and the modest $20 price I paid made me bear with these headphones for about a year.

I decided to get another pair for myself at Christmas.  My criteria were pretty simple:
  1. Wireless connection (to avoid cable interference while workout out)
  2. Stay in ear (a good fit, so they don't fall out during normal exercise)
  3. Good sound quality (good connection, music sounds good)
  4. Reasonable time between charges (for me, charging once a week is acceptable)
  5. Somewhat comfortable (no earphones are completely comfortable, but they shouldn't cause pain or feel too noticeable)
  6. They don't look strange

I noticed the JAM Transit Wireless Ear Buds (Black) HX-EP310BK on sale at Target for $25, and a helpful clerk said he had a pair and recommended them.  So I got them, figuring I could return them if they didn't work.

All I can say is that this new pair met all of my criteria.  They look nice and are light, they come with ear clips that ensure that they stay in the ear, the sound quality is great and I only have to charge them once a week.

Here's how they look on me in a shameless gym selfie:

You can do your own research and find a pair that work for you, but I highly recommend the convenience that buying a pair of wireless headphones offer for working out.  I'm sure you can buy a more expensive pair that work and sound even better, but the ones I found work great at a reasonable price point.
