Healthy Snacks
Holidays are a time for eating, but healthy people still want to watch what they eat. Why not give a gift of healthy snacks? The definition of healthy snacks will vary from person to person depending on the kind of diet they have adopted, so you'll need to do a little homework. You'll want to know if they are into low carbohydrates, Paleo, gluten-free, or generally avoiding sugar and refined carbohydrates. Perhaps they like protein bars. Those can get really expensive, so if you can get a few of their favorites, they would be sure to appreciate that! If you have the budget and want a truly amazing gift, check out Naturebox - you can give them a healthy snack subscription, with new snacks arriving every month! ![]()
Gym Membership or Ski Pass
If you know that they use a gym, why not give them a subscription renewal? Or a few months, whatever the gym allows in terms of gifts or even gift cards for services. If you know that the person is into skiing or some other activity, check into getting a pass or gift card. ![]()
Spa or Massage Treatment
Many people appreciate a relaxing and rejuvenating outing to the spa. Or perhaps a manicure/pedicure would hit the spot. Or a nice massage to work out all of the tension associated with the holiday season. Don't just give them a card that promises the outing, obtain a gift card or prepay for a visit to ensure that they get the special occasion they deserve! ![]()
Activity Trackers
Activity trackers are all the rage now and there are dozens of companies offering gadgets in this space. According to Wikipedia, an activity tracker is a device or application for monitoring and tracking fitness-related metrics such as distance walked or run, calorie consumption, and in some cases heartbeat and quality of sleep. Tom's Guide says that any good fitness tracker should come with a smartphone app that you can use to track your progress, as well as log what you eat each day. Some of these gadgets can even double as smartwatches, displaying incoming notifications from your smartphone. Whether you're a reformed couch potato or a marathoner, you have a wide range of fitness trackers to choose from. Read PC Magazine's roundup on the 10 Best Activity Trackers for reviews and prices. The appcessories web site also has a good top 10 list. ![]()
Cookbooks

Be sure that the cookbook is suitable to their specific diet and has good reader reviews. Everyone appreciates new ways to make healthy food taste great. Gift Cards for Dining Out
I know I love to dine out. My wife and I go out on a date each week and we usually include a restaurant in our plans. But we always have to think about which restaurants will provide healthy options. More and more restaurants are offering healthy choices and nutrition information right on their menus. If you already know the places the person likes, get a gift card for that restaurant. Otherwise, you can get a gift card for a place that you know caters to the person's diet. Some of our favorites include Subway, Applebee's and Costa Vida. ![]()
Fitness and Sporting Equipment
Assuming you know the person well, you should know what kind of equipment he or she might like. If they enjoy climbing, perhaps they could use some carabiners quickdraws or ropes. If they are into soccer, racquetball, basketball, ping pong or another sport, a new high quality ball would probably be appreciated. Perhaps a new set of adjustable dumb bells like these. Foam rollers are a popular item these days. Exercise balls provide a great workout. If you have a larger budget, you could look at larger workout weight or cardio equipment. Do your homework, however, and include the receipt in case you don't get exactly what they want. ![]()
Cooking Items
You have to know the person you're honoring well to give this type of gift, but there are many who adore new gadgets and gizmos for the kitchen. Perhaps a new blender for those healthy smoothies? Or a food processor to make all of those healthy meals? Or sometimes some new cookware will be an exciting gift. For a list of ideas, click here for a list by Fitness Magazine. ![]()
Workout Videos and Video Games
Many people love to work out at home to a video. Chances are they are tired of their existing video collection but haven't bothered to buy new ones. Find out the kind of videos they like and get something similar. Videos can be very basic and easy all the way up to extremely difficult and advanced. The same goes for fitness-oriented video games. They can be extremely fun and entertaining while at the same time giving a great workout. I know that in our family, we like to get the Just Dance videos each year. You dance along with the figures on the screen to earn points, and the music can be very fun to move to. Supplements
You're probably asking - really? Pills? Powders? Believe it or not, these kinds of things are really exciting to many fitness enthusiasts. And the costs can add up. If you know the kind of protein powder they use, or pre- or post-workout mixes, they would really appreciate the thought. Other vitamins or nutritional supplements would also need to be based on what they like and are currently taking, so you'll either need to know or find out before spending any money. Don't ever purchase anything along these lines without knowing the person's preferences. If in doubt, just give a gift card. ![]()
New Clothes
I lost 75 pounds over a period of 10 months. That's about 5 or 6 pants sizes or a couple of shirt sizes. I've given away all of my old clothing, and unfortunately each season requires new clothes, including Winter. The costs can really add up. I know, a good problem to have. If the healthy person in your life has lost weight and could use new clothes, that would be a fantastic gift. Now it doesn't typically work for you to choose the clothes for them, so in that case it would be best to go shopping with them, give money or gift cards towards new clothes. ![]()
Fitness Apps and Music
There are hundreds of fitness-oriented smartphone apps out there now for iOS and Android platforms. Many cost a few dollars, or even require subscriptions. Also, if you're like me, listening to music during a workout is an absolute necessity, but songs or song service subscription fees can add up. Get the fitness-oriented people in your life a gift card that allows them to purchase apps or music to enhance their workouts. You'll want to know whether they are using an Apple device, an Amazon Kindle, or a Google-compatible Android device. Then you'll know where to purchase their gift card. You can purchase the gift cards in most larger grocery stores now, or online. Online is quick and convenient since you can purchase any amount and email a code to use for purchases.
